Well, The Hobbit has finally been greenlit, and you know what that means!  That’s right!  Everybody and their mom can start flipping out about casting rumors!

From the usually reliable Deadline:

Word is Martin Freeman will soon be set to play Bilbo Baggins, that Jimmy Nesbitt has been offered a role and that Michael Fassbender is being pursued for another as is David Tennant. Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis are expected to reprise Gandalf and Gollum.

Ian McKellan has been known to be down for the project for a while now, and Andy Serkis seems like a sure shoe-in as well.  Who, after all, would want to try and live up to his performance in The Lord of the Rings?

Bleeding Cool has some firmer things to say on the rest of the cast.  James Nesbitt has lately dropped hints of accepting a big role in something.  Sylvester McCoy is apparently still on for Radagast.  As for the rest, time will tell, certainly.

To be honest, though, we’re not sure how we feel about Bilbo Baggins and Arthur Dent being the same person.  And we feel like the Doctor is a bit skinny and lanky to be a dwarf, but they can do fabulous things with CGI these days.

She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
